Timor-Leste and Indonesia forward looking

Dili 16, Sept. 2014

More than 80 veterans from Indonesia pay homage to the heroes of Timor-Leste

For the first time, after 12 years  of the restoration of Independence, more than 80 veterans from Indonesia visited Timor-Leste to pay homage to the heroes of Timor-Leste. Most of these veterans have carried out their military duties in Timor-Leste. It has been an emotional moment for both sides, the Timorese and the Indonesians veterans, to pay homage to the heroes  and meet the survivals of an unjust war of occupation. But the reunion brings a new political dimension to the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and  to the two peoples.

Forgeting  the past and accepting the defeat are hard,  but puting them bihind is a courageous act from both sides.
